This semester, the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business announces promotions, welcomes new faculty members and thanks faculty and staff leaving the School for their efforts and dedication.

We are delighted to announce that Murat Sakir Erogul, PhD, is now serving as the associate dean for the Willumstad School of Business. Dr. Erogul has been a member of the business school faculty since 2017 and has been actively engaged in many of the School’s activities, including the founding of the Business Plan Competition, chairing the Learning Assurance Committee, chairing several search committees and involvement with curricular and co-curricular innovations. As an associate professor of entrepreneurship, Dr. Erogul also is an accomplished instructor and scholar. Congratulations, Murat!!

Gita Surie, PhD, who has served as associate dean at Willumstad for the past year and a half, has returned to her faculty role in the management department. We thank Gita for her many contributions while she was the School’s associate dean.

We wish Zachary Johnson, PhD, well as he leaves the Adelphi marketing faculty after 10 years. Thank you, Zach, for your many contributions to the business school and to Adelphi.

Welcome to Michael O’Donnell, who joins us as a clinical assistant professor of business analytics. Prior to joining Adelphi, Michael worked as a data analyst at CB4 and taught business analytics as an adjunct professor at Baruch College and Saint Peter’s University.

We also are delighted to welcome several new adjunct faculty members:

  • Stephen Gordon ’77, MBA ’81, and Jack Krueger, EdD, are no strangers to Adelphi! We welcome them back to teaching in the Willumstad School.
  • Robert Kalbach will be teaching courses in supply chain management.
  • Sinem Sonmez, PhD, will be teaching economics.
  • Brian J. Galli, PhD, will be teaching courses in statistics and supply chain management, starting this summer.

Huajing Hu, PhD, associate professor of finance and economics, co-authored “Political culture and corporate cash holdings,” which was published in the Journal of Economics and Finance. This paper analyzes whether the political preferences of managers affect corporate cash holdings.

Charles Richard Baker, PhD, professor of accounting and law, published an article titled “Benford’s Law: A Tool for Detecting Fraud in Internal Auditing.”

In Memoriam

It is with sadness that we share that Jack Angel has passed away. Associate Professor Angel taught accounting and taxation courses in the Willumstad School from 1981 to 2021.
