Internships last a minimum of two semesters.
Calls for applications are ongoing and subject to change based on availability of positions.
Interns interview with FCPE staff and report to the Faculty Center’s Director, Susan Lambert, who will assign duties, responsibilities and a secondary supervisor.
Interns are housed at the Faculty Center, on the first floor of Alumnae Hall.
Interns are paid $6,315.00 per semester and are expected to work 20 hours per week for 15 weeks.
The FCPE is a busy, creative and collegial place to work. It started as a faculty led initiative to provide full-time professors with information technology. The center now plays a vital role in the support and encouragement of innovative and effective teaching, creative learning-centered application for new media technology and other professional development support for faculty. Six full-time professional staff and six student educational technologists staff the center.
Interns may assist in all areas of the Centers’ work including, for example, the planning and delivery of faculty development programs, support of and collaboration with faculty on innovative teaching projects, research and development related to new media technologies for teaching and learning, shooting and editing of video for instructional projects, development and maintenance of the FCPE website, and other duties as assigned.
Applicants for both types of internship positions respond to an FCPE call for interns that may include a request for specific skills sets and interests. You will complete an application form, submit a cv, and a statement of interest and two letters of recommendation. Applicants will also interview with the FCPE staff.
Internship positions are not guaranteed each semester. Interns are hired as needed. However, between 1-2 interns are usually employed at any given time.
All interns are required, as part of their work at the Center, to complete an ePortfolio showcasing accomplishments and projects completed during the internship period. Other general expectations are similar to those of any form of employment.
Interns must show up for work on the appointed days and at the designated times, complete assignments in a timely fashion, work independently and collaboratively when appropriate, check in regularly with their supervisor, interact respectfully with FCPE staff, student technologists and faculty, attend staff meetings when requested, etc.
Interns must maintain their academic standing throughout their internship.
