The Lunar New Year 2026 marks the beginning of the year in many East Asian countries, celebrating the arrival of spring and the first new moon of the lunar-solar calendar. Also known as the Spring Festival, it is a time when families come together to enjoy food, gifts, red envelopes, and festivities that symbolize good fortune, prosperity, and happiness. To celebrate, we will incorporate traditional activities such as making bonsai trees, which represent harmony, balance, and luck. Our event will educate students about the cultural significance of the Lunar New Year and its deep-rooted traditions in Asian history while fostering a fun and social atmosphere. We will also provide unique gifts representing the Year of the Horse, explaining how each item brings good luck. Every detail, from décor to symbolic items, will reflect the festival’s essence. For international students unable to celebrate with their families, we hope to create a sense of warmth and community.
