Jasmine Manalel, PhD

Jasmine Manalel, PhD

Jasmine Manalel is a social-behavioral scientist whose research centers on social relations and health across the lifespan, with a focus on adult development and aging. She is particularly interested in the role of close social ties on the well-being of vulnerable individuals and fragile families. Prior to joining Brookdale, Dr. Manalel completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) of NIH. Dr. Manalel has received multiple awards in recognition of her work, including the 2020 NHGRI Intramural Research Award for her accomplishments as a postdoctoral fellow. In addition, the NIH and the American Psychological Association have recognized her for effective plain language communication of science. Dr. Manalel obtained her BA in biology and psychology from the University of Virginia, and her MS and PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Michigan.
