University and Community Threat Assessment Team
The work of the Threat Assessment Team relates solely to addressing potential or actual serious safety issues involving members of the campus community. It does not supersede, supplant, or replace the University’s current judicial procedure or the protocols for reporting incidents and safety concerns.
The Chair of the Threat Assessment Team has the authority to designate persona non grata any individual from the grounds of Adelphi University if, in his/her opinion, that individual presents an ongoing threat to any member of the Adelphi community.
Any member of the campus community may become aware of a troubling situation that is causing serious anxiety, stress, or fear in or out of class. If such a situation appears to be imminent, including possible immediate risk of violence to self or others, it should be reported immediately to the Department of Public Safety.
When and How to Report Issues of Concern
You do not have to make this determination. When in doubt, we encourage you to contact the Chair of the University & Community Threat Assessment Team. If another campus resource is more appropriate, a member of the UCTAT will refer the student/employee and handle the transfer of information.
Any self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, erratic behaviors that disrupt teaching or University activities, or behaviors that might compromise safety should be reported. All reports will remain confidential. When in doubt, report.
If you feel there is an immediate threat, dial “5” from any campus phone to contact the Department of Public Safety. For non-emergencies call 516.877.3511. Otherwise, use the resources below depending on the nature of the concern.
