Jaggar Community Fellows Program: farmers market

Since our founding in 1896, our deeply rooted dedication to community service has helped Adelphi advance the goals of our communities.

Our mission to serve our community reinforces two critical goals: It fosters a strong sense of community engagement within our students, and it brings exceptional benefits to community organizations throughout Long Island and New York State.

Our Community Partnerships

Adelphi University is actively involved with a variety of community partners, such as:

  • Local schools and educational organizations, providing educational opportunities for students from underserved communities
  • Local arts and cultural organizations
  • Museums
  • Art galleries
  • Theaters, both local and Broadway-based

Nonprofit Resources and Student Talent

Adelphi connects students and local organizations through community partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for service, learning and impact. The Jaggar Community Fellows Program provides paid summer internships with nonprofit organizations, while the Center for Nonprofit Leadership supports local nonprofits through leadership development, training, coaching and other resources.

Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program

The Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program provides callers with the critical information and caring support they need as they face the challenge of breast cancer. The hotline offers vital resources in both English and Spanish, supporting and empowering diverse populations around New York state.

Discount Programs: Supporting Our Local Community

The Panther Partnership between Adelphi and local establishments provides discounts to students and faculty year-round. Please consider patronizing these locations and supporting our local economy.

Mental Health Services for the Community

The Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology provides high-quality, affordable psychological services to individuals and families throughout the Long Island community. Through the Center for Psychological Services, Institute for Parenting and Postgraduate Psychotherapy Center, Derner offers specialized services including psychological testing, assessment and treatment planning, parenting education and support, and psychotherapy.

Panther Pantry

Help Adelphi students access nutritious food and essential resources through the Panther Pantry. Local organizations can support this effort through food and financial donations, volunteering or community partnerships that help address food insecurity and strengthen student well-being.

Pathways to College Success

The Panther Pathway to Student Success brings high school students to Adelphi University for a special summer session each year, exposing them to college life. Students come away with a better understanding of the college journey ahead, and they learn how to plan for and pay for college through financial literacy coaching sessions.

Peace Corps Prep Program

Open to all Adelphi undergraduate students, this program helps you prepare for international service, global careers and other opportunities. Earn a certificate and gain valuable skills for an international career. Whatever your goals may be, the Peace Corps Prep Program will help you jump-start your professional development.

Relay for Life

Adelphi participates annually in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. Wearing signature purple gear, and raising funds both individually and as teams, participants in this community program walk through the day and night to support cancer research.

Tuition Discount Partnerships

Help strengthen the local workforce by investing in the people who keep businesses and organizations moving forward. Adelphi’s tuition discount partnerships give employees access to savings on select degree and certificate programs, making it easier for local organizations to support professional growth and build the skills they need.

Volunteer with Adelphi Students

Connect your organization with Adelphi students through meaningful volunteer opportunities that address local needs, build community connections and give students hands-on experience making a difference.
