The name reflects a new focus for the 70-year-old school.

The Adelphi University School of Nursing is now the College of Nursing and Public Health. Dean Patrick Coonan ’78, Ed.D., R.N., NEA-BC, FACHE, says that the newly named college will “transform education, not just nursing education.” The designation reflects an expanded focus on health and healthcare as evidenced by new graduate programs in nutrition, public health and healthcare informatics. The College plans to continue to focus on population health and its relation to the practitioner and nurse.
