Author and Pulitzer Prize-winner David Finkel will lecture on campus in October.

David Finkel’s Thank You for Your Service is the 2014 Adelphi Community Reads book. Named an Amazon 2013 Best Nonfiction Book of the Year, it tells the poignant stories of Iraq war veterans and their families as they adjust to life in the aftermath of combat.

All first year students participate in the First Year Reading Program, which aims to educate students about global issues and help them develop an understanding of the nature and value of human diversity. Reading and discussion of the book will be cornerstones of Adelphi’s year-long focus on the Changing Nature of War and Peace.

Author and Pulitzer Prize winner David Finkel will be on campus in October to speak to the Adelphi community.

Copies of Thank You for Your Service in multiple languages will be available at the Swirbul Library for any interested faculty, staff, students and administrators to check out and read. There will also be copies available at the libraries at the Manhattan, Hauppauge and Hudson Valley.

This piece is from the May 2014 issue oeNews from AU.
