StoryCorps Unveils One of its Popular Stories on PBS’ POV

StoryCorps, the national oral history organization, released a brand new animated short on November 15, “Sundays at Rocco’s.”   It features Adelphi Professor and Department of Theatre Chair Nicholas Petron, M.A. ’70 remembering his grandfather, Rocco Galasso, and their family’s traditions.

Nicholas Petron’s grandfather, Rocco Galasso, moved to New York City from Italy with the hopes of making a better life. For 18 years, Rocco served as owner and superintendent of an apartment building where much of his family resided–until the day they were given notice that their building faced demolition to make way for new apartments. As Petron remembers, that’s when everything changed. For more, visit storycorps.org/animation.

Listen to the original Petron interview and others recorded at Adelphi in 2009 .
