Student scholarships impact every facet of Adelphi’s operation. None is more vital that their ability to support student success.
One consistent research finding is that students are most likely to succeed if they are able to attain “bonding” intellectual relationships with adults on campus. Most times, these relationships are with faculty, but sometimes they are with coaches or staff in various offices related to student and institutional success. Endowed and expendable funds allow us to create scholarships which provide assistance to supplement the jobs and internships for students in various campus offices, all of which result in higher graduation rates. In short, scholarships “buy” time; time that our students use to learn.
We want to minimize the need for students to borrow and to commute to work off-campus. Scholarship assistance with reasonable hours of out-side work required helps students succeed.
