Adelphi is committed to the issues of race, social justice and equality and is now offering a new special topic course, Race: A Critical Perspective.

During this time in our nation’s history, we would like to affirm Adelphi’s commitment to the issues of race, social justice and equality. PIA 289: S/T: Race: A Critical Perspective (0501-289), cross-listed with ABC 390, is a 3-credit course being taught by Carolyn Springer, PhD, associate professor of psychology, in Fall 2020.

The goal of the class is to review the origins and historical construction of race as a concept. It examines how race has been used socially and politically to create categories of inclusion and exclusion; to influence the cognition, affect and behavior of individuals and groups and to shape ideas of social justice and equality. Registration is now open for this fully online course.

Adelphi students who are interested in this course are encouraged to speak to their advisers and register through CLASS.
