The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available a full three months earlier for the 2017-18 academic year in a new process known as Prior-Prior Year (PPY).
Here’s what you will need to know about Prior-Prior Year (PPY):
- On September, 14, 2015, President Obama announced significant changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- The FAFSA will be available earlier (October 1 rather than January 1)
- For students attending college July 1, 2017–June 30, 2018 students will be able to file the FAFSA on October 1, 2016, using 2015 income tax data
- All new and current (undergraduate and graduate) students must file the FAFSA on an annual basis. Prior Prior Year does NOT mean that it covers multiple application years.
Adelphi University’s Office of Student Financial Services is looking forward to ensuring a successful transition to Prior Prior Year (PPY).
