Alumna Marguerite Izzo was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame and met President Barack Obama at the White House.

As the crowning achievement in a career dedicated to teaching, Marguerite Izzo, M.S. ’84, an adjunct professor in the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education since 2001, has been inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame. Prior to the induction ceremony, Izzo met President Barack Obama at the White House. Izzo was named New York State Teacher of the Year in 2007, and has served as the foundation officer of the Adelphi chapter of Phi Delta Kappa since 2008. After 34 years of teaching, she remains as passionate as ever about education. In addition to her work at Adelphi, she teaches fifth-grade English language arts and social studies at Davison Avenue Intermediate School in Lynbrook, New York.
