Dr. Rakesh Gupta, CHI symposium, Washington Monthly Best-Bank-for-the-Buck schools

Dr. Rakesh Gupta, professor of management, marketing, and decision sciences in the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, was quoted in an article on Nerdscholar on Tuesday, September 3. The article discussed ways that college students can become more financially responsible. The top four financial literacy tips included: make sure you have good savings and checking accounts; make a budget and establish financial goals; be smart about building credit; and, create money-saving habits.

A synopsis of Adelphi University’s Center for Health Innovation’s first symposium “Assuring the Continuum of Care in Emergency Situations” was featured on EMS World magazine’s website on Wednesday, September 4. The event, which took place last February during a blizzard, was particularly relevant to Long Islanders, who were still recovering Superstorm Sandy a few months earlier. Topics that day ranged from the preparedness of mental health professionals to the availability of electronic medical records in emergency events.

Adelphi University made the Washington Monthly‘s Best-Bang-for-the-Buck College list, an annual ranking that evaluates schools based on the number of students receiving pell grants, the graduation rate, the default rate of student’s loans, and the cost of tuition. Adelphi was among just 349 colleges that made the list in 2013.
