As Tropical Storm Hermine threatened Long Island last weekend, Newsday spoke with emergency management experts on ways for residents to prepare.

Meghan McPherson, assistant director of Adelphi’s Center for Health Innovation and a part-time faculty member, shared her insight.

“Residents are also wise to avoid some faulty thinking when it comes to tropical storm preparedness,” she told Newsday.“Every storm is unique and can bring different dangers.”
