Gregory Peter Gutman served as director of Adelphi University’s Marketing Department, a professor of marketing, and director of Adelphi’s Executive-In-Residence Program. He was the founder of the American Marketing Association (student chapter), and faculty advisor to the Marketing/Advertising Club.

A distinguished faculty member of the School of Business who dedicated his entire adult life to teaching students, Professor Gutman passed away in February 2003. To this day, Adelphi colleagues, friends and former students of Professor Gutman have fond memories of his energy and passion, knowledge of marketing, and dedication to helping each and every one of his students attain success.

Among his other accomplishments and his many contributions to the life of Adelphi, he was the founding director of “Adelphi-on-Wheels,” the innovative commuter classroom on the Long Island Railroad and other metropolitan commuter trains.  This unique academic program, which offered graduate courses leading to the Master of Business Administration degree, was initiated in 1971 and lasted until 1987.
