Giannis Antetokounmpo (“The Greek Freak”) of the Milwaukee Bucks hosted a basketball clinic for kids at Adelphi University. After the game, Antetokounmpo also headlined a gala dinner at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Park as part of “Greek Freak Week.”
A number of news outlets including Fox5 NY News, News12 Long Island, and NYSportsDay covered the “Feel Greek” exhibition game and clinic on Sunday, June 4 which kicked off the “Greek Freak Week” festivities, sponsored by Hellenic Public Radio Cosmos FM 91.5.
The teams of Greek-American youths were coached by Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo of the Liga ACB. Joining them on the sidelines were Panagiotis Fasoulas, representing the Greek National Basketball Team of 1987, and Michael Kakiouzis, representing the 2005 champions.
The event gave the players the opportunity to celebrate their heritage and interact with young Greek Americans of the New York Metro area. “I love working with the kids and just having all these people here is really nice,” Giannis Antetokounmpo told News12 Long Island. “I hope the kids and the people over here enjoy it as much as me and my family enjoy it.”
