RNtoBSN.org has chosen the R.N. to B.S.N. program at Adelphi's College of Nursing and Public Health to be among its "Best Hybrid Programs 2015" in the nation.

“We firmly believe in the need for R.N.s to have a baccalaureate degree. We focus our programs on making nurses successful and making sure that the experience meets their needs and the needs of the industry in the most effective way.”—Patrick R. Coonan, dean, College of Nursing and Public Health

The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Adelphi University’s College of Nursing and Public Health ranks among RNtoBSN.org‘s “Best Hybrid R.N. to B.S.N. Programs 2015” in the nation.

Adelphi’s R.N. to B.S. in Nursing program ranks No. 41.

RNtoBSN.org said, “We’ve recognized [about 50] programs because of their excellence in nursing education and the flexibility they offer,” for example, accommodating the needs of working students by offering online and traditional on-campus courses.

Patrick R. Coonan, Ed.D., R.N., NEA-BC, FACHE, College of Nursing and Public Health dean and professor, said, “We firmly believe in the need for R.N.s to have a baccalaureate degree. We focus our programs on making nurses successful and making sure that the experience meets their needs and the needs of the industry in the most effective way.”

These colleges were ranked by average reported National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) scores, used as an indicator of the overall strength of their accredited nursing programs.

The Houston-based organization noted that the Institute of Medicine’s landmark 2010 study, The Future of Nursing, urged nurses to pursue advanced degrees. The Institute set as its main educational goal that 80 percent of R.N.s should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree by 2020. (Today, about 50 percent of R.N.s have either degree.)
