After Dena Gassner was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as an adult, she became an activist traveling worldwide to promote awareness and acceptance. Now a Ph.D. candidate in social work, she was a panelist at the United Nations in April, where she represented the needs of women and girls with the disorder. In May, she chaired a group discussion at the International Society for Autism Research conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
