Honoring Four Local Executives and Alumni.

Adelphi University is proud to announce its 12th annual President’s Gala. The evening will honor four prominent local executives and alumni, including: Tina and Jeff Bolton ’61, Leon Pollack ’63 and Patrick Smalley ’86, with a cocktail reception followed by dinner and dancing. The Gala supports the University’s ability to remain competitive in attracting the brightest and most qualified students by funding the scholarships and institutional aid awarded by the University, which total over $37 million annually. It will be held on March 24, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Garden City Hotel, 45 Seventh Street, Garden City, NY. Reservations are required.

Honorees:

Jeffery Bolton

Tina and Jeffrey Bolton ’61 are the recipients of the 2012 Outstanding Service to Adelphi Award. Jeffrey Bolton is a Managing Director of Neuberger Berman, a National Investment Management Firm and is responsible for the Bolton Group which manages over five billion dollars for individuals and institutional clients. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Adelphi University, and recently elected to the Board of Trustees. Bolton started his investment career at Merrill Lynch in 1964, spent nine years at Oppenheimer and Company, and was a partner at Furman Selz and Hambrecht and Quist before joining Neuberger Berman in 1987 and becoming a Partner in 1995. He is also a trustee for the Actor’s Fund and currently serves on the Executive Committee as the Chair of Fundraising. His wife, Tina Bolton, is a former Broadway dancer. Tina was a Peter Gennaro dancer, has six Broadway credits, and appeared regularly on The Ed Sullivan Show. She is currently active at Career Transitions for Dancers.

Leon PollackLeon M. Pollack ’63, former managing director of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, will receive the 2012 Lifetime Service Award. He has been involved in the financial community for more than 30 years. Specifically, he was engaged in a variety of fixed income businesses, spending the majority of his career at two Wall Street firms. He spent 14 years at Mabon, Nugent & Co., where he was a general partner. Pollack received his bachelor’s degree in history from Adelphi University in 1963. In October 2000, Pollack was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Adelphi University, and served in the position of vice-chair from 2005 through 2008.  In 2003, Leon M. Pollack became a charter member of the Million Dollar Round Table when he became the first living alumnus in Adelphi’s then 107-year history to make a philanthropic commitment of $1 million or more to the University.

Patrick Smalley

Patrick Smalley ’86 is receiving the 2012 award for Outstanding Alumnus.  Patrick S. Smalley is the executive vice president and managing director of MCH Group LLC, developers, owners and managers of hospitality and apartment real estate. In his executive capacity, Mr. Smalley has managed a real estate company called Fairhaven Properties, which generates an annual revenue in excess of $50 million. The portfolio includes The Garden City Hotel, which Smalley teamed with the Freedom Calls Foundation in 2004, an organization authorized by the secretary of the Army to provide communications services to the troops and their families. He is also active in community affairs as a co-founder of the Institute for Social Research and Community Engagement (iSoRCE), part of Adelphi University’s Center for Health Innovation. In 2003, Smalley was named a board member of the Adephi University Alumni Association and went on to hold the position of chairman. Two years later he received the Adelphi University “President’s Award” for outstanding achievement and friendship.
