A sold out crowd of alumni and friends gathered for the 17th Annual President’s Gala at the Garden City Hotel on March 18, 2017. More than $430,000 was raised to establish three new scholarship endowments as well as for general student scholarships.

Honored at the event were Adelphi alumnus Marc S. Strachan ’81, vice president of Corporate Relations and Constituent Affairs at Diageo N.A., Shorelight Education, and The Adelphi University Women’s Giving Circle.

Each of the honorees shared their story of commitment to the University and the larger community. Honorees were introduced by Ethan St. Fleur ’20, Chelsea Wollman ’14, and Yuzun-Vladyslav Chang ’21. Watch Adelphi’s video tributes to this year’s deserving honorees.

The evening was officiated by master of ceremonies Al Trautwig ’82, one of sports television’s busiest and most respected announcers who is a fixture on New York Knicks and Rangers telecasts on the Madison Square Garden Network.

At the event, President Christine Riordan thanked the attendees for their support of Adelphi and the students. Special tributes were also made to the Class of 1967 in honor of their 50th anniversary and to the members of the 2016 10 Under 10 Class in honor of their induction into the exclusive group. Every year, the 10 Under 10 program recognizes 10 young alumni who have achieved exceptional career and personal accomplishments—before even celebrating their 10-year Adelphi reunion.

Planning for the 2018 President’s Gala is underway. The Gala will be held in June as the capstone event for the President’s 2017-18 Momentum Tour. For more information, please contact Amelia Harrison, director of Special Events and Constituent Engagement at or call 516. 877.3751.
