Panopto is video platform for recording lectures, tutorials and course assignments.

At Adelphi University, Panopto seamlessly integrates with Moodle courses, offering professors and students a versatile platform for video recording. Panopto facilitates recording using computers, smartphones, or tablets, accommodating up to three input sources simultaneously. For instance, one camera can capture the lecturer, another can display content from the computer screen, while a third may focus on hands-on activities like a science experiment.

For faculty members unfamiliar with Panopto, the Faculty Center for Professional Excellence (FCPE) stands ready to provide guidance on its integration into their curriculum. See their Lecture Recording Guide.

Access to Panopto videos is contingent upon enrollment in a course where the professor utilizes the platform. Upon selecting the Panopto video link, students are directed to the Panopto login screen. Here, they should ensure Moodle is chosen from the dropdown menu before clicking “Log In.”

By default, access to recordings is limited to enrolled students. However, it’s important to note that content not accessed in 13 months is archived, moving files to long-term storage. Nonetheless, content owners retain the ability to reactivate videos as necessary.
