Adelphi University + Little Amal Walks NY

The theme of Adelphi University’s 2022 Fall Arts Festival is “Peace of Art: Fostering Dialogues through the Arts”. Honoring this theme, Adelphi Alum and Adjunct Professor Shoshanah Tarkow are thrilled to be collaborating with Little Amal, St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, and puppeteer Robin Frohardt to create opportunities for Adelphi students to engage with Amal and her message, both on and off campus.

Students who wish to attend the community event in Brooklyn Bridge Park on September 24 will get to engage directly with Amal and community members (including hands-on puppet making, dialoguing about Amal’s mission with local community members, and walking with Amal and friends as they cross the Brooklyn Bridge). These students will have the opportunity to share what they learned and experienced with the larger Adelphi community as part of Fall Arts Festival on October 12, when we recreate a miniature version of Amal’s Walk across the Adelphi University Garden City campus.

We encourage anyone who is curious to fill out the interest form below! No prior knowledge of world events, refugee crises, or puppeteering is required; just an open mind and a willingness to engage with these topics.

You do not have to be available for the event on September 24 in order to participate in Fall Arts Festival on October 12!

This event is sponsored by the Department of Art and Art History, the Honors College, and the Fall Arts Festival.
