SPARK SERIES Reading With …Dr. Andrea Ward “Silent Spring” by Rachel Carson

The SPARK CENTER cordially invites faculty and students to join  Dr. Andrea Ward, Provost for Research, for the inaugural event of the SPARK CENTER SERIES. This season, we read Silent Spring by Rachel Carson.

Rachel Carson was a visionary biologist whose landmark work, Silent Spring, forged a critical link between chemical contamination and public health. Her courageous voice turned rigorous science into a powerful narrative — sparking a movement that led to the banning of DDT and the birth of modern environmentalism. Her legacy stands as a testament to the power of a single, courageous voice to change the course of history.

The SPARK CENTER SERIES — Reading With … — brings our academic community together around transformative books and the remarkable minds who champion them. Each gathering is an opportunity to explore ideas, share perspectives, and be inspired by the stories that have shaped our world.
