LGBTQ activist Li Maizi will speak about her experiences as an activist in the People’s Republic of China, and about potential actions students can take, providing an opportunity for meaningful reflection and activism.
Also known as Li Maizi (李麦子), Li Tingting is a prominent Chinese queer feminist and one of the internationally recognized Feminist Five. She is the Co-founder and Director of the New York Asian Rainbow Chorus and has led numerous high-profile campaigns for gender and LGBTQ+ rights in China.
In 2015, she was named one of Foreign Policy’s 100 Global Thinkers and one of the BBC’s 100 Women. Li holds a master’s degree in Human Rights from the University of Essex and is currently based in New York.
