Finding Hope: Risk Assessment & Suicide Prevention
Event Actions
This course walks clinicians through assessing suicidality in care, safety planning strategies, and identifying and/or monitoring high-risk clients.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Verbalize at least three risk factors for suicidality.
- Indicate at least three open-ended questions to ask in a suicide assessment.
- Identify at least three interventions for identifying and monitoring high-risk patients.
- Learn at least three DBT-informed practices to reduce risk and enhance protective factors within patients.

Faculty Bio
Alexis Cate, LCSW, CCTP, CASAC

Alexis Cate is a Clinical Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional based in New York City. Alexis is currently a Clinical Social Worker with the Montefiore Medical Center School Health Program in the Bronx, NY. She provides direct clinical care to adolescents in a Bronx middle school. Alexis completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Wagner College and went on to earn her Master of Social Work Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She has experience working with all age groups, treating a variety of psychosocial concerns including: depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, substance misuse, trauma, personality disorders, pervasive mental health disorders, suicidality, self-harm, community violence, and domestic/family violence. A compassionate and highly motivated self-starter, Alexis has a strong desire to empower the individuals and families with whom she works. She believes in the importance of holistic health, highlighting the mind-body connection and the practice of mindfulness.
Credentialing Information
Successful completion for the award of approved continuing education credits requires attendance at the entire training/workshop and submission of a completed evaluation form.

Cancellation Policy
Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made seven working days or fewer before the event for any reason—or for no-shows. We can provide credit towards a future workshop up to 24 hours before the event. After that, no credit will be issued.
