Adelphi Transforming to Student-Ready College: Faculty Senate CARE Workshop
Event Actions
The Senate Committee of Admissions, Retention and Enrollment (Senate CARE) would like to invite the Adelphi faculty to the special workshop exploring the shift from focusing solely on preparing students for college to ensuring that colleges are prepared to meet the needs of today’s diverse learners.
Join us for an engaging discussion on reimagining student support, inclusion, and institutional responsibility in higher education.
This interactive workshop challenges the traditional notion that students alone must be “college-ready” and instead proposes a paradigm shift toward institutions becoming “student-ready.” Grounded in the principles, this session engages faculty in reimagining higher education through the lens of equity, inclusivity, and shared responsibility for student success.
Participants will explore the characteristics of a student-ready college, critically examine institutional barriers, and identify underutilized campus and ecosystem partnerships that can support intentional, systemic change. Through guided reflection and group discussion, attendees will determine actionable strategies to foster a culture that centers students’ diverse strengths and needs.
Key takeaways include:
- Understanding the student-ready mindset and its impact on student outcomes
- Identifying institutional changes to better support current student populations
- Developing collaborative approaches to create a more inclusive, supportive learning environment
Join Senate CARE in building a student-ready future, where all students are empowered to thrive. Your voice matters—let’s work together to create a more student-ready Adelphi.
This isn’t another meeting on your calendar—it’s a conversation about the future of higher education and our shared role in it. A ‘student-ready college’ isn’t about asking more of the faculty; it’s about reshaping how our institution supports you so that every student who walks into your classroom is ready to learn, thrive, and persist. By rethinking structures together, we move from patching problems to building a culture that sustains both faculty and students.
Please register before October 15, 2025 for the workshop. Please specify your dietary requirements as we plan to provide lunch.
This event is sponsored by the Adelphi Faculty Senate and Office of Admissions and Enrollment Management.
