Modeling Practice Skills in Social Work Education
Event Actions
Teaching and social work practice have many parallels, but there is little direction on how to utilize social work skills in higher education.
Recent literature calls for a need to model social work skills in the classroom, particularly as we aim to fulfill program commitments to ADEI and empower students entering the profession during a time of increased need amidst changing resources. This course will explore generalist practice roles and theory to enhance student learning and empower students to impact positive change as they enter the profession.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the importance of modeling practice skills for social work students
- Identify connections between CSWE’s Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards and NASW’s Practice Principles
- Describe strategies for modeling practice skills while maintaining appropriate boundaries
