Date & Time: September 23, 2021 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Location: Concert Hall, Performing Arts Center

Members of the award-winning brass quintet Axiom Brass present an afternoon masterclass for high school musicians who play trumpet, French horn, trombone or tuba.

Students will perform portions of prepared solo works in a nurturing learning environment, and be inspired by suggestions relating to technique, interpretation, and musicality.

Regretfully not all will be able to perform – those not selected are invited to attend as audience members.

Cost:

Free!

Who is eligible:

High school aged musicians who play trumpet, French horn, trombone, or euphonium.

What to prepare:

A musical work for your instrument of at least 5 minutes in duration that is NYSSMA Level V or higher, composed with or without piano. Selections need not be part of the current NYSSMA manual, so long as they are of an appropriate level of difficulty. Works written with accompaniment should be performed with accompaniment; a pianist will be provided by Adelphi free of charge. We encourage performance of works that celebrate diversity of composers.

What to bring with you:

Your instrument, music, musician’s mask, and the piano part for the accompanist.

COVID-19 Protocols:

  • Masks are required for all in attendance, including performers, who will be required to provide their own musician’s mask.

  • Masterclass participants and audience members are required to provide proof of COVID vaccination and/or results from a negative COVID test within 72 hours prior to the event.

  • These requirements are subject to change throughout the semester based on the latest local conditions and guidelines from the CDC.
