Alert Levels
The University has adopted four alert levels that correspond to the current infection rate, with protective actions.
The active positivity case rate is less than 3%, or active cases are less than 50.
The active positivity rate is more than or equal to 3% and less than 4%, or has active cases greater than or equal to 50, but less than 75.
The active positivity rate is more than or equal to 4% and less than 5%, or has active cases greater than or equal to 75, but less than 100.
The active positivity rate is more than or equal to 5% or has active cases greater than or equal to 100.
What to Expect: Alert level red corresponds to the New York State mandate to shut down in-person instruction for two weeks if there are 100 confirmed positives or 5% of the on-campus student, faculty and staff population.
Testing Calendar:
Faculty and Staff: Randomly selected cohorts of faculty and staff are tested monthly based on who has used the health screening app in the past two weeks.
Commuter Students: Randomly selected cohorts of commuter students are tested monthly based on who has used the health screening app in the past two weeks.
Residential Students: All residential students and staff are tested every other week.
Testing Notes:
If our region is identified as being associated with an increased number of cases we will then allocate for testing accordingly as a result.
This data is comprised from our (asymptomatic) surveillance based testing not to be confused with testing for cause in (sick individuals). Testing for cause is diagnostic and more likely to occur off campus. As a largely commuter based population, asking community members to remain home when ill, this is the rationale for more self reported positives off campus then via on campus testing.
Description of Adelphi’s Data:
On-Campus Population: The average number of unduplicated people on-campus.
Positive Cases: The total number of confirmed positive cases, whether they came from Adelphi’s testing program or were submitted from independently obtained tests.
Positivity Rate: A calculation based on the current number of positive cases divided by the current on-campus population.
Tests Delivered: Sampled individuals receive the test kit, obtain a sample under guidance by Zoom, and ship the sample to the laboratory.
Tests Ordered: Sampled individuals click on link provided by tests provider, enter information, and order the test to be shipped to their homes. It does not include independently obtained and submitted tests.
Tests Pending: Tests delivered to the laboratory without a result posted.
Tests with Results: The lab receives the sample, analyzes it, and posts the result.
