Students will gain knowledge related to nutrition concerns of patients receiving long-term care. Students may have fieldwork experience at facilities such as assisted living, correctional facilities, skilled nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:1. Apply knowledge of social, psychological, and environmental aspects of eating and food to create diet plans for long-term care residents.2. Apply pharmacology knowledge to describe drug interactions with long-term patients.3. Utilize electronic data to inform quality assurance projects for long-term care facilities.4. Integrate knowledge of nutrition and physical activity to provide education to long-term care patients.
