For majors only Students learn about research and thinking in cognitive psychology and consciousness, learn how to translate ideas into testable formats, and develop a scientific attitude towards new material, taking into account various multicultural perspectives on cognition. Topics are selected from cognitive psychology with a view towards the development of research proposals. The goals for this course include: acquiring knowledge about the research and thinking in the field of cognitive psychology and theories of consciousness, being able to translate ideas into a testable format, and developing a critical or scientific attitude towards the acquisition and evaluation of new material. In addition, I hope students will become excited about and intellectually stimulated by some of the fascinating ideas in this area.
