Students will learn about mental processes including perception, attention, memory, language, problem solving, and reasoning. Applications to practical issues like effective study habits, eyewitness testimony, and consumer behavior will be discussed. Course may also be useful to education, communication sciences, and business majors. ~to gain exposure to the variety of research areas cognitive psychologists study~to acquire a basic understanding of major cognitive theories and principles ~to learn the methods that cognitive psychologists use to answer research questions ~to explore the biological workings of the brain and its relation to thought and behavior~to consider how research and ideas from cognitive science may be applied to one’s own educational, professional, or research interests.
