Prerequisite: spa 122 or equivalent

Students examine the way of life of a people to understand their value systems as well as to achieve cross-cultural communication and understanding. The use a variety of sources to help them identify those cultural patterns intrinsic to a society.

Communication Oral, Global Learning

To assist the student in acquiring a fundamental knowledge of the various cultures that comprise the Spanish speaking world. The focus is on the everyday life, history, geography, culture and civilization of the Hispanic world in a format designed to stimulate and encourage the exchange of ideas among students and instructor. The main purpose of the course is to show the unity of the Spanish-speaking culture, notwithstanding its varied contours. A variety of authentic material will be used in addition to the text, including but not limited to, newspaper, films, video, television.
