This course involves in-depth discussion of major perspectives on personality, including the psychodynamic, behavioral/cognitive-behavioral, trait, and humanistic frameworks. Empirical evidence related to each perspective is analyzed, and applications of personality theory and research in applied settings are described. General Education Learning Goals: Communication, Critical and Integrative Thinking, and Information Literacy.In addition to addressing the three General Education Learning Goals listed above, the specific course objectives of Psychology 284 are to:• understand the key elements of major theories of personality• become familiar with research testing each theory• use these theories to examine current approaches to psychological diagnosis, assessment, and treatment *The learning goals displayed here are those for one section of this course as offered in a recent semester, and are provided for the purpose of information only.
