Join us for a livestreamed session of the Convergencia Latina Seminar featuring Dr. Jeanette Shakalli, who will present “From Dreams to Doing: Finding Your True Passion”.
Convergencia Latina is a speaker series celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by featuring Hispanic and Latino mathematicians and highlighting their work, journeys, and contributions to the mathematical sciences.
This session features Dr. Jeanette Shakalli, who will present “From Dreams to Doing: Finding Your True Passion”.
In this talk, Dr. Jeanette Shakalli will briefly share her personal story as a female Panamanian mathematician and then describe how the Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) was born.
The mission of this non-profit Foundation based in the Republic of Panama is to change the world’s perception so that one and all can experience mathematics as accessible, relevant and inherently joyous. Dr. Shakalli will also highlight some of FUNDAPROMAT’s greatest achievements, as well as the free resources the Foundation offers.
