Let me be the first to welcome you to a new year at Adelphi University, where we offer limitless opportunities for students to explore both academic and personal interests—and grow as people, professionals and citizens of the world. I’m proud to serve as the interim president of the extraordinary University you have made the decision to attend.
Your time at Adelphi will be filled with chances to make your mark on your field of study as well as to make new friendships. You’re part of a community that values the unique qualities that each individual contributes to the whole. We can’t wait to see what you bring to the mix in the year ahead.
Whether you are a first-year, transfer, continuing undergraduate or graduate student, there are many people at Adelphi who will support you in your endeavors, from the caring teacher-scholars who make up our faculty to our knowledgeable and devoted staff and leadership. Together, we are committed to your successful academic journey and preparing you for the next step toward your professional and career goals.
Interested in research or creative projects? Check out our SPARK Center, which supports and promotes undergraduate research, and mark your calendar for next April’s Scholarship and Creative Works Conference, a vibrant Adelphi tradition where all undergraduate and graduate students can show off their scholarly and creative work. Our Innovation Center is also not to be missed if you are seeking experiential, interactive and interdisciplinary learning.
Want to get involved in clubs and activities where you can meet people with shared interests and sharpen your leadership skills? Our Center for Student and Community Engagement is the place to build your own Adelphi experience. You’ll find ample opportunity to connect with your peers and be part of our tight-knit community. Don’t forget to cheer on our Panthers athletic teams, who more than once have topped NCAA’s Division II.
If you find yourself needing some support, Adelphi has your back. For extra help in a challenging subject or guidance on an essay, you can always reach out to CASE, the Center for Academic Support and Enrichment. And if you need someone to talk to about your mental health, the Student Counseling Center is ready to offer individual and group counseling.
I’ve mentioned a few of the ways you can find opportunity and support at Adelphi, but I hope you’ll be active and curious, paving your own way on the higher education path that’s right for you. Personalize the experience to fit your plans and personal goals—that’s what Adelphi is all about.
