We've been nominated for the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Best of Long Island 2021

Voting for the annual Bethpage Best of Long Island contest has begun and, as in recent years, Adelphi University is well represented among the nominations, including these “best” categories:

  • College/University
  • College President
  • College Sports Program
  • Concert Venue
  • Theater Arts Center
  • Mascot
  • Public Garden
  • College Sports Coach—with five Panther head coaches making the cut

Adelphi is the “defending champion” for 2020 honors announced earlier this year in several of the categories, including College/University, President, Sports Program and Theater Arts Center. Nominations are set by a round of public input in late summer, while general voting continues through December 15. Adelphi nominations are in the larger categories of Education and Arts & Entertainment. Individuals may vote once a day.

“A Best of Long Island award is a great way to promote our school spirit and our standard of excellence—both for our local community and for prospective students and families who are considering Adelphi for their future plans,” said Kristen Capezza, MBA ’12, vice president of enrollment management and University communications. “Best College/University is an honor we can feature across every unit, school and department of the University and is a special point of pride as we visit high schools around the country and worldwide.”

In the College Sports Coach section, Adelphi coaches on the ballot are Danielle MacKnight, volleyball; Pat McCabe, women’s lacrosse; Gordon Purdie, men’s lacrosse; Dominic Scala, baseball; and Melissa “Missy” Traversi, women’s basketball.
