High School Poetry Prize
We invite all high school students to submit to the Adelphi University High School Poetry Prize, judged by faculty in the Adelphi English department.
We are proud to announce the winners of the 2026 High School Poetry Contest. We had almost 200 entries from across the nation and thank every entrant for sending in their poetry. The competition this year was exceptional.

The winner of the prize will read at the Writers and Readers Festival, which will take place on campus from April 16-17 and feature renowned writers from across the country.
The judges read almost 200 excellent poetry submissions from talented high school writers for the inaugural Adelphi High School Poetry Prize. The winners will be announced tomorrow at 4.30 p.m. at Adelphi University.
Submission Guidelines
- All high school students are eligible
- Poems may have been previously featured in or recognized by school publications
- Submissions may include 3–5 poems (maximum ten pages single-spaced), formatted as a PDF
- Submissions should include a title page with your name, grade, school name, and email address
- Deadline to submit is Sunday, March 15 at 5:00 p.m
