Freedom of Expression Week Symposium

Freedom of Expression Week Symposium

A week-long series of thought-provoking sessions designed to foster a deeper understanding of freedom of expression for faculty, staff and students.

Join us October 20 through October 24, 2025.

Adelphi University students, faculty, staff and entire classes are encouraged to participate in our third annual Freedom of Expression Week Symposium events. Each day of the week offers one or more thought-provoking sessions that dive deep on timely topics, including:

  • Freedom of expression
  • The importance of diversity of thought in democratic discourse
  • The need for civil dialogue around conflicting perspectives, especially in a university setting
  • Real-world perspectives on the right to freedom of expression in America

The symposium’s goal is to generate a deeper understanding of freedom of expression—particularly in a university setting—and to facilitate meaningful discussions across our campus community.

Our event hosts include the Student Government Association (SGA), and the Division of Student Affairs and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Adelphi University.
