Reason for Policy

The reason for this policy is to provide salary guidelines for tenured and tenure-track faculty who have served as administrators and are transitioning back to their faculty positions.

Policy

Salaries for University faculty working in administrative positions who return to their faculty positions will be set at the same salary the administrative employee would have been earning as a faculty member during the time they were serving in an administrative position, including any faculty salary increases for which they would have been eligible, during that period of time.  The appointment letter for faculty members being offered administrative positions will clearly state this policy.

It shall be the responsibility of the Office of Human Resources, in consultation with the Budget and Provost Offices, to confirm the new salary of those returning to faculty before implementing the change.

Procedures

The Provost Office shall notify the Office of Human Resources in writing when a faculty member in an administrative position returns to faculty, including the date of return and the new salary.
