The University is required by law to provide adequate policies and procedures regarding the posting of job positions to ensure that all potential applicants have an equal opportunity for employment.

Policy

The University attempts to fill job vacancies from within, although it has the discretion to recruit and hire outside candidates.

Once positions have been approved for replacement by the applicable executive leadership member, the Position Review Committee and the President, job postings, other than non-graded positions, are placed on our website at adelphi.edu/hr/open-positions/, unless an intradepartmental promotion takes place. Interested and qualified candidates must apply online at the Office of Human Resources website to be considered for a posted position. A University-wide email is sent out notifying the current employees of the opening and directing them to the website.

Procedures

Once an employee expresses an interest in a posted position by officially applying for the position online, the Office of Human Resources will determine if the employee possesses the job qualifications, and if so, will send the applicant materials to the department for review.
