Manhattan Campus Alert Beacons

What was the project?

Setting up and configuring emergency notification beacons in the Manhattan Center and Garden City campus as well as panic buttons and a centrally managed server.

What was the goal?

The goal is to make sure that everyone is safe when at Adelphi. Having these beacons in strategic locations allows Public Safety to make sure that everyone is aware of an emergency situation regardless of whether they are active members of the Adelphi community or not.

How does this benefit Adelphi?

Provides an efficient way to let occupants know of an emergency situation whether they are a current member of the Adelphi community or not.

What was ITs role?

IT manages, maintains and upgrades the server component which integrates the panic buttons and alert beacons. We also play a role in all tests of the system with the public to make sure everything runs smoothly.

What was the project?

Redesign the President’s FMD Newsletter for the website.

What was the goal?

Easily navigate various topics and stories from the current and previous FMD newsletters.

How does this benefit Adelphi?

Provides a better user interface through design optimization and user experience through easy filtering of stories by topic and preference.

What was ITs role?

Web Development and Digital strategy suggested solutions by using wireframes to showcase the need for a larger overhaul of the entire President’s site to meet the goal requested. We then addressed the sitemap, streamlined navigation and added additional promotional spaces to drive traffic to important areas. Finally, we created a “more like this” feature on stories to help the user find related news topics.

What was the project?

Migration of our data from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning.

What was the goal?

To migrate all of our users and relevant data to LinkedIn’s new online learning platform.

How does this benefit Adelphi?

LinkedIn Learning is the new supported online learning platform. The lynda.com service is being sunset by LinkedIn after it was acquired.

What was ITs role?

Application Integration Services lead the migration and coordinated with UCOMM and the Web Development and Digital Strategy team on a communication plan for our community.

What was the project?

Redesigning the IT Website.

What was the goal?

Visually highlighting the IT reorganization while making it easier for our users to get support and find information on any of the IT services they need.

How does this benefit Adelphi?

It provides a better user experience for anyone navigating the site, allowing them to quickly get support. This also allows the Help Desk to provide better service as it should cut down on the number of calls as individuals can get figure things out on their own more easily.

What was ITs role?

Web Development and Digital Strategy handled strategy, content development, design and development of the website.
