Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by immersing yourself in the art and culture of Latin and Caribbean Americans at a museum in the heart of East Harlem.
El Museo Del Barrio was established in 1969 to honor and preserve the art of Puerto Rican artist in the United States. Since then their collection has expanded to cover 800 years of Latin and Caribbean American art spanning form pre-Columbian Taino culture to contemporary artists.
Students can purchase their discounted tickets through University Tickets. Museum entry is $3 and you can choose to add a round trip LIRR ticket between Nassau Blvd and Grand Central Station for an Additional $5. Guest tickets for the museum may be purchased at the student rate, however discounted LIRR tickets are only available to currently enrolled students. Tickets will go on sale September 11th at 12:00 PM (Noon) EDT.
This trip is intended to be self guided to allow students to explore the museum at their own pace and explore other parts of New York City if they choose. A group leader will be available to help students navigate between the Garden City campus and the museum.
Tickets for the museum are for timed entry between 2:00 – 3:00 PM and the museum will close at 5:00 PM. Students traveling from campus should take the 12:10 shuttle to Nassau Blvd in order to arrive at the museum on time.
