This session will address humans’ impact on our planet and various approaches that businesses are using to address challenges related to sustainability. Examples of how to build a sustainability program from scratch will be shared.

Insights from Experts

Kristen Royal leads the sustainability program for Sabra Dipping Company. At Sabra she developed the Planet-Positive Sustainability Program focused on energy, waste, packaging, regenerative agriculture, community impact and product health.

Prior to her role at Sabra, she held the position of Director, Sustainability Programs for Tayst Coffee. Her work in pioneering a return service for Tayst Coffees Compostable Coffee Pods landed her a speaking opportunity to over 70 cohorts at The Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership Program at Harvard University.

Kristen held a one-year appointment as a youth representative to the United Nations, lived with the Massai in Tanzania, Africa to learn about eco-tourism and was a grassroots advocate for the organic agricultural movement as an intern with iEatGreen, a local business on Long Island, NY!

Kristen has her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Adelphi University and holds a Master of Science in Environmental Sustainability from Long Island University.

In order to complete the Leadership Certificate Program, students must complete 6 workshops in total over the Fall and Spring semester, in addition to completing 2 trainings (C.O.R.E and SafeZone).
