Comprised of eight monologues, Jane Martin’s Talking With… introduces its audiences to a kaleidoscope of idiosyncratic women.

Written by Jane Martin
Direction by Carson Ferguson, Anthon Mondesir and Nicholas Petron

Performed LIVE in the Black Box Theatre, this series of monologues introduces us to a variety of women – from a woman fixated on light and lamps to a woman in the throes of childbirth, an ex-rodeo rider, an old woman who claims to have seen a man healed by a Big Mac, and many more. Equal parts humorous and touching, Martin’s play invites audiences to share in some of the most intimate experiences that women have with parents, with spouses, with lovers, with children, and ultimately with themselves. Martin’s play was the recipient of the 1982 American Theatre Critics Association Award for Best Regional Play and Martin herself was dubbed “[a] dramatist with an original voice … and gladsome humor” by The New York Times.

Please note: This play contains adult themes, language, discussions of violence against women (including sexual assault) and depictions of violence against a pregnant woman. The section “Dragons” in Act Two includes a brief segment of flashing lights.

“Talking With…” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
