This seminar introduces the conceptual, empirical and practice knowledge related to benefits that individuals, families and communities can derive from struggles of a highly stressful and potentially traumatic nature. Models for understanding developmental, environmental and sociopolitical predictors of resilience and posttraumatic growth (PTG), their manifestations as well as their manifestations as well as strategies to foster them, will be presented and illustrated.

Roni Berger, PhD, LCSW

Dr. Roni Berger is a licensed psychotherapist in the USA and Israel. She was born and raised in Israel, holds a BSW, MSW and PhD from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Diploma in Psychotherapy from Tel Aviv Medical School. She has been a Professor at Adelphi University since 1993 and a consultant to professional organizations domestically and internationally as well as providing mentoring services for the development of scholarly publications. Her fields of expertise are evidence-based practice, trauma and post-traumatic growth in cultural contexts including immigrants, families, stepfamilies, and groups. Her current research focuses on trauma informed practice, predictors of well-being in Jewish and Arab Israeli adolescents and online professional education. She has published and presented extensively, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Berger serves on numerous editorial and advisory boards. Prior to her immigration to the United States 30 years ago, she worked in Israel in academia, has held supervisory and administrative positions in diverse social, medical and educational settings, and has engaged in direct practice with individuals, families and groups in the fields of health and mental health. Dr. Berger has received several awards and grants, including awards as a Fulbright Senior Specialist.

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds are issued for cancellations made up to 7 working days before the event. Cancellations of less than 7 days for any reason, or no-shows are not refunded. Credit towards a future event/workshop are issued for cancellations less than 7 days and up to 24 hours before the event. No credit is issued for cancellations less than 24 hours before the events or no-shows.
