The Center for African, Black and Caribbean Studies will celebrate Kwanzaa with food and entertainment. We’ll also answer all your questions about this African-American holiday.

The African American holiday Kwanzaa was created by American Maulana Karenga in 1966 specifically as an alternative to Christmas. It is derived from the Swahili phrase matunda ya kwanza meaning “first fruits.”

This event is sponsored by the Center for African, Black and Caribbean Studies and the Division of Student Affairs.
