Federal Regulations (RSI) and Best Practices: Student Engagement in Online Courses

The U.S. Department of Education requires that all online courses for which students may use Title IV funds (federal financial aid), “ensure that there is regular and substantive interaction (RSI) between students and instructors.”
RSI is more than a federal requirement; it is also a hallmark of effective teaching and an essential component of learning. In this workshop, we will discuss the characteristics of RSI, the kinds of student engagements that meet this requirement, and the best practices and guidelines you can utilize to optimize engagement in your courses.
