February Out For Lunch With Dr. Rob Linné
Event Actions
Out for Lunch is an informal conversation series with staff and faculty members and allows students to meet LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff and administrators in a casual space.
The purpose of the series is to provide an opportunity for students to hear from faculty, staff, and administrators in the LGBTQ+ community about their life experiences, careers, successes and challenges in an intimate setting. All university community members are welcome to attend the Out for Lunch series. Join us this month for a conversation with Professor Rob Linné from the Ammon College of Education.
Professor Linné has an article informed by LGBTQ+ history coming out in Texas Architect Magazine, and he has plans to expand the work for other platforms. This oral history research tells the story of a legendary resort on the Texas coast that served as a center for progressive networking and organizing, most notably LGBTQ+ Rights. The stories and historical photos uncovered are inspiring (as well as intriguing.) Characters making appearances in the drama include Hillary Clinton, Ann Richards, drag queens, Farah Fawcett, opera divas, and the “Father of Texas Architecture.”
Please join us for a free lunch and an informal discussion of this work-in-progress. We will end by brainstorming possibilities for researching our special places in and around Adelphi and Long Island.
